The Tim Tebow Foundation.

NEW Inspiration for this article!

July 31, 2023 – I went to the movies this past weekend and saw Sound of Freedom. Incredible! Jim Caviezel was excellent, delivering a riveting performance that tapped my emotional well multiple times. The most inspiring thing about this is the truth of it. The portrayal of Jim Ballard and his story of human trafficking is overwhelming, and I was moved to republish this article about Tim Tebow and his foundation.

Please watch the trailer below, then read on. Listen to Tim Tebow’s interview with Craig Groeschel at the end of this article, and pray.

God’s Children Are Not For Sale!

As a former football player and lifelong fan of the game, I found myself the father of a budding high school football athlete in the mid-2000s. In my son’s senior year, 2007, a college star burst onto the scene who captured our attention. Tim Tebow helped the Florida Gators win two BCS Championships and was named the Heisman Trophy winner in 2007.

Over the next several years, Tim continued to be a topic of conversation in the news, not only for his exceptional skills on the field, but for his personal convictions of faith.

He drew the ire of some as he openly expressed his Christian beliefs, to the point that the NCAA felt the need to step in and pass the Tebow Rule.

Mr. Tebow continued his athletic excellence, finishing a remarkable college career with 5 NCAA records, 14 SEC records, and 28 University of Florida records. He was the SEC’s all-time leader in career passing efficiency (170.8), completion percentage (67.1%), passing touchdown to interception ratio (5.5 to 1), rushing yards by a quarterback (2,947), rushing touchdowns (57), and total touchdowns responsible for (145).

Despite being drafted into the NFL in the first round, Tim was not able to achieve the same level of success in the professional ranks.

However, his continued outspoken views on Christianity led some media pundits to label him as a cultural phenomenon.

His act of kneeling on one knee in prayer with head bowed and an arm resting on the bent knee was coined, Tebowing.

Inspiring many, while offending an unfortunate few, the act propelled Tim into the center of a national narrative.

Tim was traded after just two seasons with Denver, then released after a single season by the Jets. He attempted to make the pre-season cut with 3 more teams after that (Patriots, Eagles, Jaguars) but fell short. Since 2013, Tim has done some broadcasting work for the SEC Network, ESPN, and ABC.

My personal interest in Tim seemed to diminish in recent years … until now. If you’ve been following my Eye-of-the-Beholder stories, then you probably know a little about My Virtual Mentor. I continue to participate in and support this growing ministry, counting Pastor David Robertson among my short list of personal friends.

Dave and I meet on a monthly basis with several other Christian leaders in a virtual forum that he calls, Level Up Leadership.

The material he uses comes from another fantastic Christian leader who has grown his ministry to an amazing reach; the Pastor Craig Groeschel Leadership Podcast.

In our September 2022 session the core content was based on an interview that Craig recently conducted with none other than, Tim Tebow.

Tim’s faith was instilled at a very early age by his parents, who served as Baptist missionaries in the Philippines. The knowledge he gained from that experience would impact the rest of his life. A passion grew inside Tim to help people, and to share the good news of Jesus Christ. That’s why in 2010 he created the Tim Tebow Foundation (TTF) with a mission to bring Faith, Hope and Love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need.

In his interview with Pastor Craig, Tim revealed an amazing story about his father. What Tim’s dad did inspired Tim to amplify his own fight against human trafficking in 2020. With a 3-pronged global strategy to combat this terrible evil, TTF is now serving in 8 different countries to make a real difference in the lives of those affected by human trafficking.

As I watched and listened to Tim talk with Pastor Craig, I found myself far more inspired by the man’s convictions about faith and leadership attitudes than I’ve ever been by his athletic prowess. I hope you take the time to watch the entire interview and observe the genuine Tim Tebow as I did. I think you’ll agree that God is truly using Tim for a noble purpose that’s worthy of our support.

I want to encourage you to explore the other wonderful content that Pastor Craig has produced for his Leadership Podcast, and of course, my good friend Pastor Dave and the MVM platform.

May God richly bless you!
