Whenever I talk with someone about my RV Life experiences, I often get this question … “What were your favorite places?”
It’s hard to narrow my response, but I typically include the following five places in the conversation …
Number 5 – Colorado Rocky Mountains Top 5 Locations
Timeless landscapes from the mountain west will always have a place in my heart.
Ever since my introduction to the majestic Rocky Mountains as a young teenager, I have returned time and again for nearly half a century to admire this Jewel of Creation.
Whether camping in the Collegiate Valley along the Avenue of the Fourteeners, creeping up the steep sides of Pike’s Peak on a cog railway, climbing across granite and limestone boulders in the Garden of the Gods, or peering into the depths of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Colorado offers a feast for the eyes at every turn that keeps me coming back for more.

Number 4 – New England Top 5 Locations
Surprisingly wild and beautiful, filled with historical intrigue and tourist attractions, the northeast greatly exceeded my expectations.
Giant waterfalls, colonial wilderness, famous places from history, and quiet forests deep inside the north woods combine for many unforgettable experiences from our nation’s birthplace.
Etched into my memory include amazing spots like Fort William Henry on the shores of Lake George, Haystack Mountain in Connecticut, the Breakers of Rhode Island, the red brick Freedom Trail throughout Boston, Plymouth Rock, and the beautiful rocky shores of Maine marked by dozens of vintage lighthouses.

Number 3 – Acadia National Park Top 5 Locations
This region of rugged Maine coastline is dotted with spectacular granite boulders where the Atlantic Ocean crashes in a frothy display, often soaring to heights of 30 feet or more.
Nearly 4 million visitors journey here every year to enjoy unparalleled views from high atop Cadillac Mountain.
There are over 150 miles of wilderness trails to explore that wind through ancient forest, along with 27 miles of historic roadways overlooking the vast waters of the North Atlantic. Among my favorite activities from my visit to Acadia are a sightseeing cruise from Bar Harbor, climbing the boulders of Otter Point, walking along the cliffsides of Thunder Hole, and simply sitting in silence on top of Cadillac Mountain to watch the world go by.

Number 2 – Grand Canyon
A sight to behold that pictures and video will never do justice.
This is an in-person experience that I believe everyone should do at least once in their lifetime.
Words are insufficient. You will understand when you see the Grand Canyon with your own eyes for the first time.
Massive, filling the entire horizon left-to-right (277 miles), deep beyond eyesight (over a mile in some places), and ancient, revealing a geological story as old as Earth itself. I will never forget the almost spiritual sensation I experienced my first time as the depths seems to draw me in and pull my soul into the chasm. Simply, wow.

Number 1 – Glacier National Park
Referred to as the Crown of the Continent, this national park takes everything I love about the Rocky Mountains to another level.
Towering snowy peaks, rushing boulder-strewn rivers, crystal clear alpine lakes, and thick forests of aspen and pine set themselves apart in these Northern Rocky Mountains.
A pristine wilderness shared across international borders with Canada to form the Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are so many amazing sites in and around the park that I could never write enough about it all. You should definitely plan a visit of your own.
A few of my most memorable moments include a bumpy drive along a 30-mile primitive road to Kintla Lake, where I encountered a moment of clarity in the wild about my place in the local food chain. A wonderful day boating on Flathead Lake enjoying the deep blue, crisp glacial water. A leisurely walk through an aromatic old-growth forest at Ross Creek Cedars where ancient giants reach high into Big Sky country.
